Connecting skippers and sailing crew and building a sailing community
I'm looking for the right boat to crew on. I don't mind sharing expenses, but I'm not interested in spending hundreds or thousands per night/month to come crew on your boat. I am 50, single, have 4 years experience sailing. Have my ASA 101, 103, and 104 Certifications. I'm interested in pursuing a yacht-master certification. And I'm looking for a boat where I can get some practical experience. Perhaps a trip to/from the south pacific or to/from the Mediterranean, or a a trip to/from the Caribbean. Crew on a delivery trip? Of course, if I can find a boat that actually pays that would be fantastic as well, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm a social drinker, so if you're drinking, I'll drink. If not, I really don't miss it. And I wouldn't drink while under sail. I play the guitar and sing and would gladly spend spare time while not performing duties, plucking and singing. I am an amateur photographer and love taking pics, both above water and below. I'm a computer consultant by trade and can help you with your computer issues and website design and content delivery. I am an avid scuba diver with Advanced Open Water Certs. Working towards a Divemaster Certification. I enjoy eating healthy and cooking as well. I speak fluent English and Haitian Creole and semi-fluent French. Same skill level in writing those languages as well. I have lived in many places throughout my life, but a life on the ocean is the last adventure I long for. If you want you can check out my facebook page. It's not completely open, but it should give you an idea of who I am, Friend request me and I'll most likely accept. http://facebook.com/mraymus
I'm currently in Honduras on vacation, but not sure where I'll be in a month. Probably somewhere back in the US. I've been traveling around the country for the past year in a tent trailer, calling it my "dry run" in preparation for living on a boat/small spaces.
