Connecting skippers and sailing crew and building a sailing community
We are looking for experienced crew to join us for enjoyable adventure sailing aboard our HR 46 Scattergood as we journey south this fall from Bermuda to Antigua. Dates of travel are November 18th through December 1st, 2016. Crew change is possible in Bermuda around November 18th.
I am a veteran sailor in my 40s joined by my girlfriend for a year-long sailing sabbatical. We are an easy-going and professional couple. We are interested in finding amiable individuals to help keep watch on offshore legs. Some sailing experience is a must and offshore knowledge a big plus. We’re looking for smart, open-minded individuals who can contribute energy and ideas to the sailing adventure. Amateur marine biologists, gourmets, astronomers... welcome.
Travel expenses such as food, fuel and dockage are shared equally.
Scattergood is a Hallberg Rassy 46 from 1999, a Swedish built Frers design. The boat has a center cockpit with a secure helm position and windshield. The interior is spacious with two bunk rooms and a head forward and master cabin aft. The boat has a diesel generator, electric furling mainsail, chart plotter with AIS, Autopilot, etc. The liferaft is to date and all the safety equipment is in good order. The boat is excellent condition.
Please have a look at the information here and don't hesitate to contact me for further details. Thanks for your interest!
Replied to your post on Cruisers Forum. I may be available for the leg from Bermuda south. I have >5000 miles of offshore experience, most since 2008. I have >40 yrs of sailing experience and I've owned more than a dozen boats. I can pass along a CV if needed.
Decided to forward CV
Hi Joshua, I am interested to get more info your the trip. I am available in November for 10 days and would consider to sail from New-York to Bermuda. I am an active sailor and own my own boat (C&C 32) located in Canada. For the last three years, I have been retrofitting it so I need sometime on the water. I got the authorisation from my wife to go sailing so I am good to go. I am 48 and in good health. I speak French and English. I have some experience sailing in the Caraibe (BVI and Bahamas). Let me know if this could work for you.
do you have any plans after you reach Grenada? Coming from Europe, my plan is to reach the Lesser Antilles in December. From there I would like to catch a boat to mainland South or Central America. Maybe that also fits your plans?
I would love to sail with you guys sometime. Your HR 46 looks like a beautiful yacht! I am a capable sailor, and I am looking to gain experience on as many boats as possible, with veteran sailors such as yourselves. Do you plan to take on crew throughout 2017?
