Hi, I think as a film maker this story may be of interest. I called it "Science and Surf under Sail" as a fathers hope to share a passion and a life long interest, activity in the Oceans. I have two teenage boys and an ex-wife and friend (from New Zealand)...the idea is to complete our relationship, it's how we met and traveled from New Zealand (25 years later how we'll return) and to give our boys a life experience...but, with the purpose of education and sport. Now, the story that happens in life is so often not the original concept. Have a look at our facebook page of the same name. If you are interested then we can discuss it further. We have work to do on the boat and I could use a hand on that. I don't see us cutting lose until May 2015 for the Marquesas. Oh, A friend had some idea about doing a docu-story on what we're doing with a possible crowdfunding element to it??? His name is Lawrence Scott and he's posted a couple of videos "Navigating Paradise" (http://vimeo.com/69126334).

Regards, Jerrid

Hi Jerrid
I'm looking a boat to cross the ocenans. Your plan sounds great! What's your rute? How many time?

Thanks!

This is a longer term effort. Right now I am in the shipyard and also working against those costs. It is great to know that I or we can pick up work and earn as we go. But, on the down side while I am working for others the work on my ship isn't getting done. So, I am looking for crew that will share in the whole adventure, work on our boat or help me work on other peoples boats since I am good at bringing work in. We save and then we travel, stop...work, save and then travel..oh, and surf and dive and study and dance and feast. This may involve 2 other people that will base themselves from the "Salvation" but, go and do other things or crew for others and come back to "Salvo". I think that could be good, dynamic.

Hi Jerrid,

Your plan sounds very interesting! Just wondering, where are you leaving from? Me and my boyfriend Jack are currently in Sydney and looking for a boat to join as a part of the crew in order to gain some sailing experience for the future. I, Jasmine, am a 23-year-old girl from Finland and Jack is 18 years old and from Wales (I know, sounds young but we definitely act older than we are).

We have all the time in the world, so no need to rush to any destinations with us. We're able to relocate to anywhere (even to the US) in order to join you on your boat. We'd love to join you for the entire trip, as long as we get along well - which wouldn't be a problem as we're fun, easy-going and get along easily with anyone. We're both in good physical condition and perfectly healthy, clean & tidy, keen to learn more about sailing and we can also cook. We don't smoke nor drink either.

I have a bit of sailing experience already, as I sailed earlier this year from Panama to Cook Islands (via Galapagos, Marquesas, Tahiti & Bora Bora) as a part of a four-member crew, including the captain and myself. We sailed on a Jeanneu Sun Odyssey 45,2 and the trip took us about 3 months. I learned a lot about sailing and am able to do night watches on my own, use the radar, GPS, compass, and help out adjusting sails, steering and anchoring. Jack has worked at Byron Bay Dive Centre as a part of the dive team, and also acted as a deck hand on some of their boats. Neither of us get seasick easily and we enjoy everything about the ocean, both of us being surfers as well. We are working hard here in Australia in order to support ourselves for a long time without income, so it wouldn't be a problem for us to chip in on fuel and food costs. I think, we'll be doing our farm work here until March 2015, so joining your boat in May is not a problem for us!

If you would like to have a chat with us on Skype before having us on the boat, that could be arranged! Hope to hear from you soon!

Kind regards,

Jasmine Farling & Jack Hayward

Also, if you're interested to see, I have made a short video of my previous sailing trip, so I would love to help you out on the film-making aspect of it as well! You can check out my video here: https://vimeo.com/99232087

Thanks!

Hello Jerrid! I am Daniel, from Brazil, and I am really interested on this experience!

I am a young filmmaker (25 years old) living in Lisbon, Portugal now, and I really want to get on a sailing adventure.

I am very helpful and multiactive, although i don't have any sailing experience yet. I would be happy to help you on that journey.

Cheers,

Dan

If you have used Float Plan to find a boat or a crew member, or had a good experience using the website, being part of the community or you just love what we are trying to do (make sailing accessible to everyone), I would really appreciate a quick note that I could use as a testimonial on the new website. Thank you, Andrew
