About me
I'm an experienced blue-water sailor from Hawaii (now residing in Northwest Florida) currently seeking sailing contacts/opportunities in/around the Destin - Fort Walton Beach - Gulf Breeze - Pensacola area.

I'm an upbeat, active, attentive, safety-minded and team oriented crewman, who's also good-natured, friendly and hospitable as well! My sailing experience includes @20 years of recreational sailing, weekly racing (HYRA PH I,II,III), regattas, cruising, island hopping, charters & deliveries. I've also crewed a few luxury yachts, dive boats, research & salvage/recovery vessels as well. (Below I've listed boats I've crewed on regularly/repeatedly). I've also completed several Trans-Pac long hauls, including racing & deliveries of TP race boats (Hawaii > Cali), and co-piloted a multi-hull power racer that set several maritime records (San Fran > Sydney).
Competent Crew, Silver Services, Water Sports instructor
Other qualifications
I'm an alert, astute, skilled, cooperative and responsive mariner who's both technically and mechanically inclined. I'm a fast learner but still have a lot to learn, so I'm eager to work with others who'll share expertise, knowledge & sailing skills!

SKILL SETS: I can read a compass, nav markers, sails, weather, tech docs, schematics and blueprints. Also handle lines, grind, set sails, steer & trim a steady/changing course, handle docking & anchoring; also read charts, do logging, charting, dead-reckoning; and operate electronics, safety/emergency and other equipment. I enjoy learning, configuring/programming & trouble shooting electronics & equipment; also trip planning and system/process engineering as well. I love working the deck, cockpit, trimming/tweaking sails! And having fun, catching/eating lots of fish, and kicking back/relaxing at appropriate times! I'm not a great cook, but happy to do my share, and also help with galley work, serving, clean-up, provisioning, stowage, etc.

TRANS PAC'S: After a few mainland deliveries of race boats (Hawaii to Cali), I was honored to be hired as one of the two crew of the Yanmar Endeavour; the only boat to ever cross the Pacific Ocean solely under outboard power (San Francisco>Sydney)! The Boat: a 40ft ultra-light semi-planning tri-hull of spun carbon fiber. The Mission: an R&D, humanitarian, and eco/enviro project to help remote islanders (sponsors: Yanmar Marine USA & Baltek Duracore). The Power: dual 27hp diesel outboards. The Results: benchmark records for speed, distance, and fuel consumption! The Reward: Affordable, high efficiency, low-maintenance, fire safe, marine motors designed specifically for remote islanders/fisherman!
My Duties: Co-pilot & Engineering (burn-in's, shakedowns, troubleshooting, R&R Autopilot, fuel mgmnt, etc).

WATER SPORTS: For years, I taught swimming, life-guarding, water safety &survival (WSI & WSSI certs by AMRC, USMC, USN); and skin/scuba (PADI OW/AI); also windsurfing & springboard diving (YMCA & YC's).

Northwest Florida: seeking local day sailing; and
racing opportunities for 2017 season (along with cruising, deliveries and other maritime opportunities globally)!

I'm a happy, healthful, youthful girl with an adventurous spirit! I'm American, but lived, schooled & worked overseas most of my life (background is below). I love meeting good people of all ages, from all cultures, from all walks of life... sharing smiles, laughs, thoughts, ideas, perspectives, life experiences, activities, strong shoulders & helping hands!  I enjoy sharing all kinds of nourishment (including a nightly glass of beer/wine and the like)!

MY  PROCLIVITIES: I love to do, go, explore, and enjoy people, places & things (far & wide, simple to complex, ancient to futuristic; rural to metro, rustic to Ritz)!  I'm partial to good people, natural environs, and learning more about the worlds natural, temporal, and spiritual workings (physics/metaphysics: systems, structures, processes, tools, proclivities, potentials, etc). I'm simply fascinated by life, nature, sciences, maritime endeavors, (r)evolution(s of) spirit, ideas, cultures, industry, and personal perspectives (especially yours)!

BACKGROUND: My parents were career US Air Force aviators; my brothers and I grew up in NJ, CA, VA, NC as kids, then in Japan throughout our teens (graduating High School in Okinawa, Japan). I trained, then worked during high school as a Red Cross lifeguard, then WSI/WSSI & PADI AI (water safety & survival instructor; & PADI assistant scuba instructor) for the US Marine Corps. Later stateside, I worked my way thru college (as a lifeguard, diver, marine lab tech) and completed marine navigation school in Key West before I sailed off to Australia on "working-holiday"! After sailing & trekking Austral-Asia & the Pacific for @3 years, I settled in Hawaii where I furthered college, raced sailboats, had a corp/tech career, and did various work/volunteer projects worldwide (business, health/safety, eco/enviro and humanitarian [Red Cross/Crescent, USO/SMC's, Marimed, Endeavour, +]). Recently, I moved to Florida to help my family (ailing father & brother with cancer); meanwhile I bought/remodeled a home, and work/volunteer as an advocate for the disabled, Veterans, and dyslexics. Recently my father passed away, and I can't wait to get back out on the water!
