This is what we're going to do.

I will GIVE you my little ship the "Salvation"!

It is a good boat, needs work.

First you have to help us fix her up and then crew with us to New Zealand on a year long sailing voyage through the South Pacific.

This would represent a 2 (more or less) year commitment from the right person or people.

Once we get to The Bay of Islands, New Zealand and after say being there for 3 to six months the title of Captain and the documentation of the "Salvation" will be yours.

There will be stipulations to be sorted out and mutually agreed to.

But, basically you will have:
1) helped saved a Wooden Boat
2) Have learned about all the systems and on board procedures, navigation, sea-person-ship, boat handling from a seasoned waterman/craftsman
3) sailed the South Pacific seeing some of the most amazing places and peoples
4) then own a recently refitted and seaworthy cruising World Sailing Vessel.

Please Share this as an open offer...even as a open challenge!

This is not about money.

I recently turned a young man onto a boat that needed a good home and he started a NPO, created a web-site and a purpose...I didn't entirely agree with this...manipulation but, he was resourceful and enthusiastic.

This is a waterperson challenge, I want to hear a good story, a good mission statement and an Ocean skill set.

Again, please help me make this go...can I use the term "Viral" here???

Please share!

Many Thanks,

The political and financial World is such a bundle of contradictions. The system needs people to take on debt and then complain bitterly about national debt. Money no longer reflects the value or efforts of people. We live in a World of plenty but, create a sense of not enough or never enough since that is best for consumerism. There is a lot I am not diggin' about the corporate culture that is threatening our ways and our lives and our planet. We are an immature, adolescent planet, particularly the States just now.

But, the other side is we, many of us still have a power of choice and there are still places where it is all corporate and money is part but not all. Certainly the World needs more conversations. So, What are your travel plans? Where are you now? You would be welcome and we should discuss the possibilities.

Hey Jerrid!,. Just found your post.
I recently gave up my old life to become a Pirate (in the most romantic version of the word ;) )
What it means is that i don't agree with how's sociaty is being run today. for starters we have a totaly outdated money system wich is based on debth en
therefore demands a perpetual econimc growth wich is simply impossible on a finite planet. we are running the planetary system beyond it's limits and it
will break down. rather than waiting for that in a big city i'd rather live in a wet utopia :) while engaging in like you say citizen science to try to tackle
some of the issues.

Apart from this i'm a hopeless romantic with loads of adventure lust who likes to work hard and play hard. I've got some seatime but not much. However I
learn fast and want to learn a lot. Previously i designed and build festival stages where i learnd a lot of wood and metal working,- but also problem solving skills, apart from that i'm great at working heigths have lots of experience with tricky situations (although not so much at sea )and I know how to stay calm and react properly.

I was working on a old (1902) tall Sailship in germany. But that's done now and I would love to come and work and share ideas and have fun. Even if i don't get the ship ;)

yours sincerely

Roel Kerpel

It already has and that will continue. Then I'll find another boat and do this again. I am looking to foster a group of travelers that participate in citizen science and the dissemination of information between working people on order to change how people that live simply respond to environmental issues. And, of course a lot of fun and surfing. A Plato's Republic at sea...academics and athletics, A wet Utopia.

Hello, I wish I had experience on sailing or helping, to live in a boat would be beautiful, I don't have a home yet and to live at the Ocean should be the only place I was suppose to live. I hope this wooden boat will find a good hearted owner which will warm this boat alive.

If you have used Float Plan to find a boat or a crew member, or had a good experience using the website, being part of the community or you just love what we are trying to do (make sailing accessible to everyone), I would really appreciate a quick note that I could use as a testimonial on the new website. Thank you, Andrew
